Saddle Mt | Seaside Oregon July 2014 by Trail The Sun
This is one of the better hikes I have done in a while. Saddle Mt. is just outside of Seaside Oregon. From the top of it’s 3,283ft summit you can see all the way to Astoria and where the Columbia river’s estuary . It’s not a very long hike but near the top the trail gets very steep and rocky. It’s only a 2 mile hike to the top. The 1st mile is lush forrest and in the 2nd mile there are fields. The best part is that all the way up there are tons of wild flowers. There were wild Tiger Lilies, which are one of my favorite flowers, among others like Fox Gloves and Indian Paintbrushes.
I wish I could have gone on a clear day and I will have to come back when it is. Although, hiking into the clouds was pretty cool and I think made it more pretty on the way up.

Meet Biddy, The Travelling Hedgehog
Those of us who want to travel but do not have the time or the money finally have a solution – we can travel in spirit together with Biddy the hedgehog, a little guy on Instagram whose travel photos are becoming insanely popular.
Toni DeWeese and Tom Unterseher, Biddy’s two loving owners in Oregon, take him on adventures almost every week throughout the Pacific Northwest. He visits mountains, forests, waterfalls, and the occasional donut shop.

Humbug Mt View Point | Seaside Oregon July 2014 by Trail The Sun
This little view point was at the beginning of our hike to the top of Saddle Mt. in Seaside. It was just a little .2 mile side trail and well worth veering off the main trail. On this little side trail I got a view of what was to come. We were going to hike into the clouds. Plus, we got a taste of the lush floral and fauna waiting for us near the top. I also got to put my new daypack into use!
The pale orange flower is a Castilleja or more commonly known as an Indian Paintbrush. These only grow in certain parts of the world and in certain climates which seem to be at high altitudes. I have seen them once before while hiking through lava flows in central Oregon. They are beautiful and illegal to pick as they are rare.

CHVRCHES

dormanta:

I’m in misery where you can seem as old as your omens,
And the mother we share will never keep your proud head from falling,
The way is long but you can make it easy on me,
And the mother we share will never keep our cold hearts from calling”
